Empathetic AI for education
Adaptive learning support that responds to how a student is doing, not only to what they typed — built on the same multimodal emotion recognition and memory layer as the rest of the AI USM platform.
What emotion-aware learning support actually changes
A student who is confused, tired or anxious asks questions differently from a student who is engaged. A tutoring system that reads only the text of a question treats both the same way. AI USM's study assistant reads the emotional context alongside the question — hesitation in the voice, frustration in phrasing, disengagement on camera when the learner has consented to it — and adapts pace, tone and the amount of scaffolding.
This is learner support, not assessment. AI USM does not grade students, does not score attention, and is not used to rank or discipline learners.
- Adapts explanation depth when a learner signals confusion instead of repeating the same answer
- Slows down or suggests a break when frustration or fatigue is detected
- Carries context between sessions through AriGraph memory, so a topic does not restart from zero
- Works in English, Russian, Chinese, Czech and Arabic
For students
The study assistant works as a patient tutor available outside class hours. It explains a concept several ways, walks through a worked problem step by step, and keeps track of what a learner has already covered so revision builds on real history rather than a blank prompt each time.
Students in verified programmes can apply for discounted access through the AI USM student programme.
- Step-by-step explanations with follow-up questions in the learner's own language
- Voice interaction for hands-free study and for learners with reading difficulties
- Session memory so revision plans reflect what was actually studied
For schools, universities and training providers
Institutions integrate the same pipeline through the AI USM API. Emotion recognition runs per modality with explicit consent, raw video is not retained by default, and deployments are designed against GDPR expectations and the data-handling rules of AI USM LTD (ADGM registration 28022, Abu Dhabi).
We do not claim measured learning-outcome improvements. Institutional work is at pilot stage, and the honest position is that the value has to be demonstrated in each programme.
- Per-modality consent: text only, text and voice, or text, voice and camera
- No default retention of raw video or audio
- API access for LMS integration and institutional billing
- Multilingual support for international cohorts
Limits worth stating plainly
Emotion recognition estimates emotional signals; it does not read minds and it is not a psychological or medical assessment. If a learner shows signs of distress that go beyond study stress, the assistant points to human support rather than trying to handle it. AI USM is not a diagnostic tool and does not replace teachers, counsellors or clinicians.
